LAKE TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Proudly serving the communities of Aultman, Cairo, Greentown, Hartville, and Uniontown
Lake Township is located in the northern portion of Stark County, Ohio. Our history is a source of pride for our residents. Settlers of the early 1800s, followed by the Amish and Mennonites as early as the 1830s, brought an agricultural lifestyle to the area's rolling hills and valleys. As early as the 1870s, farmers in the part of the township known locally as "the Swamp," raised produce for markets in the Eastern U.S. The advent of industrial pursuits came into existence in the early 1900s. Today, the communities of Lake Township maintain the flavor of agriculture, industry, and suburban living.
